Q: Can i put this in a stuffed toy?

Yes, my daughter stuffed lamb stopped working. I cut a whole and installed this then sewed it backup. The stuffed toy normally had to have a previous box in it so that it has support to hold it in the stuffed animal. If the original stuffed animal does not have a music box already you would need to sew in fabric supports to hold the box.

Q: is an automatic on/off cutoff mechanism availabe for this movement?

There isn't an on/off switch. It has a simple wind-up mechanism. The 'golden key,' shown in the picture, screws into the 'white box,' also pictured. Now the little 'music box' is assembled. Tightening the mainspring with the key activates the music. The tighter it is wound-up, the longer the playing time.
